How do I ensure that Testimony can't playback on a production system?
Clearly playing back Testimony data on a production system could cause problems for an organisation.
Testimony has controls to prevent a playback occuring on a production system.
When a system is created in SAP, the system is configured in transaction SCC4. In the ‘Client role’ dropdown box, you have several choices for the type of system that is being created, a production system will be configured here as 'Production'.
We have a check step designed to prevent a playback in a Production environment. The step '‘Check target landscape is not live’, checks the Client role field in SCC4 to see if it is a Production system. The playback check step warns the user that it was attempting a playback on a production system:
If a user decided to ignore this warning and start the playback.
Testimony then warns the user that some of the checks had failed:
Clicking on “Yes” to continue, and the playback immediately stops with a preparation error:
Any subsequent attempt to restart the queue gives the same result.
Further controls to prevent playback on a production system include not importing the playback enhancements which Testimony would raise as an issue and prevent playback occurring if these were not active
